Wei was a jack-of-all-trades in the world of IT. One minute he’d be designing a website for a local bakery, and the next he’d be handling the bookkeeping for a small tech startup. Handsome and charismatic, Wei had a knack for charming everyone he met—though he often joked that he was married to his laptop.
On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, Wei found himself in a coffee shop, balancing his trusty laptop on one knee while he adjusted the code on a client’s website. He was so engrossed in his work that he didn’t notice when JiaJia, a finance whiz with impeccable style, walked in. JiaJia was known for his sharp wit and even sharper suits, always looking like he stepped straight out of a fashion magazine.
JiaJia glanced around the coffee shop, his eyes landing on Wei. Intrigued by the sight of someone so immersed in their work, he decided to introduce himself.
“Excuse me,” JiaJia said, tapping Wei on the shoulder. “I couldn’t help but notice you look like you’re in a committed relationship with that laptop. Mind if I join?”
Wei looked up, surprised by the interruption, but quickly flashed a warm smile. “Only if you promise not to make it jealous,” he quipped, gesturing to the empty seat across from him.
JiaJia chuckled and took a seat. “JiaJia,” he introduced himself, extending a hand.
“Wei,” he replied, shaking his hand firmly. “So, what brings a finance guru like you into a coffee shop this fine afternoon?”
“Sometimes you need more than numbers to keep you going. And what better motivation than a good cup of coffee and interesting company?” JiaJia replied with a grin.
Episode 2: The Banter Begins
From that day forward, Wei and JiaJia’s paths seemed to cross more often than not. Their friendship blossomed over shared coffee breaks and humorous banter.
“You know,” Wei said one day as they sat in the same coffee shop, “if our lives were a sitcom, it’d be called ‘Tech Meets Finance.’”
JiaJia smirked. “And the tagline would be ‘Where numbers and codes collide in a caffeinated romance.’”
“I’d watch that,” Wei laughed. “Especially if you’re the star.”
“Flattery will get you everywhere,” JiaJia teased. “But tell me, Mr. IT, do you ever stop working?”
Wei shrugged. “What can I say? The code calls. Besides, someone has to keep the digital world spinning.”
“And someone has to keep the financial world from collapsing,” JiaJia added with a mock-serious expression.
Episode 3: The First Date
Despite their busy schedules, Wei finally worked up the courage to ask JiaJia out on an official date.
“JiaJia, what do you say we take this show on the road? Dinner, perhaps?” Wei suggested, hoping his voice didn’t betray his nerves.
JiaJia’s eyes lit up. “I thought you’d never ask. But only if you promise to put away the laptop for the night.”
“Deal,” Wei agreed, holding out his pinky for a promise.
Their first date was a blend of awkward moments and laughter. Wei, trying to impress, managed to spill water on the table, and JiaJia, ever the quick wit, joked, “Is this your way of cooling down the conversation?”
Wei groaned but couldn’t help laughing. “Let’s just say I’m better with keyboards than cups.”

Weeks turned into months, and their relationship deepened. One evening, as they strolled through the park, Wei stopped and took JiaJia’s hand.
“JiaJia, I have a confession,” Wei began, looking into his eyes.
“Oh? This sounds serious,” JiaJia teased, though his heart raced a little.
“I love you,” Wei said simply. “More than I love coding. And that’s saying something.”
JiaJia’s eyes softened. “Wei, I love you too. More than I love my spreadsheets. And trust me, that’s saying a lot.”
They laughed, sealing their confessions with a kiss.

“Same here. Except maybe with fewer spreadsheets and more vacations,” JiaJia replied with a grin.
“I can work with that,” Wei said, pulling him closer. “As long as we’re together, we’ll figure it out.”
